November is National AND ARKANSAS Epilepsy Awareness Month!

Day 2

The biggest stumbling block we have as advocates of epilepsy is the stigma associated with the unknown. People are afraid of what they don’t know so let’s educate our communities and empower them.

Step 1. Download the Seizure First Aid Bookmark.</strong?

Step 2. Print and Cut.
(Tip: Print on heavy weight paper and laminate if you’re the ambitious type)

Step 3. Hand out at your child’s school, church, pharmacy, in line at the grocery store, your neighbors, the mail man, friends and family.

Do your part for Arkansas Epilepsy Awareness Month. Can you imagine if you handed out FIVE book marks everyday. By the end of the month you would have reached 150 people with the importance of seizure first aid.

Don’t be shy! Advocate!

A note from our Founder

There are now over 32,000 people in Arkansas who suffer from seizures. Please take a moment this month to join with PEACE (Parents Educating Arkansas about Children with Epilepsy) to become more aware of how you can help those suffering from the stigma attached to epilepsy. As a mother of a child with epilepsy, I personally challenge everyone to wear purple every Monday of this Month to show your support of epilepsy awareness.

Gov. Mike Beebe has officially proclaimed November as Arkansas Epilepsy Awareness Month. In honor of this proclamation Peace presents 30 days of Epilepsy Awareness during the month of November.

Each day a tip, fact, issue or awareness idea about Epilepsy will be updated here on the website to help you raise awareness in your community. Check back daily for updates and follow us on facebook and twitter.

Day 1
Our goal is to coordinate education and reach out to the people of Arkansas about children who have epilepsy and other forms of seizure disorders. We work to supply resources and provide support necessary to bring peace and comfort to parents who are dealing with the daily reality of seeing their child grow up with epilepsy. Our hope is that one day, we can change reality that is epilepsy today and help children and families overcome the stigma attached by bringing resources and support to Arkansans. Until that day we will work together to bring PEACE to Arkansas communities
